We're a lot like plants March 2025

I hope this letter finds you feeling healthy.

I am often meeting people in pretty exciting and often very difficult times in their lives; after the birth of their baby, when they are heading into perimenopause, when they are about to get married, following surgery…etc

These moments in our life are stressful. They are beautiful and scary, and messy. You can look at your new baby and feel absolutely in love. It can also open old wounds (for me the loss of my mom) or present ones you didn’t expect at all.

You can feel grateful you have more medical and physical support than your mother had during menopause and still be frustrated that sex is painful or uninteresting, that you have unrelenting brain fog and joint aches. You can feel overwhelmed with the state of this moment in time for you- caring for aging parents, children entering adulthood…

I truly am grateful to be with the most fabulous people as they walk through these powerful times in their lives. I can think of nothing I would rather do more.

In an attempt to have more hobbies (other than running a business and doing PT things)- I found myself in a Veggie Garden 101 class this last Wednesday.

My friend, April, a master gardener was talking about planting our veggies in the spring (and there is so so much to know)- but if we plant them too early it is extremely traumatic to them. If we are inconsistent with our care (sometimes overwatering, sometimes forgetting), if we plant cool veggies in the hot sun, they physically cannot produce- They literally are in survival mode.

I feel it is absolutely the same for us, when we are in pain, when we have to change our whole life to accommodate our pelvic symptoms. How are you supposed to produce? We are also quite literally stuck in survival mode.

We need consistent care (not only when we start to wilt), we need water, and the right temperature, the proper nutrients.

If you are interested in having support for your outdoor space, please do reach out to my friend- April. She is honestly so helpful. She is running a Vegetable Garden Workshop on Wednesday evenings March-May.
